Alyssa Abrantes Chase (She/Her) is a mindfulness guide, communications educator, and performing artist based in New York City.

She is here to facilitate connection: to ourselves, with each other, and across communities. Her intention in any offering is to hold space to affirm, to educate, to inspire, to uplift. She works with adults to optimize their communication skills and enhance their leadership with presence, adaptability, and mindfulness. She found her mindfulness practice in Vipassana/Insight meditation in 2014.

She is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher through MMTCP–the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, accredited by UC Berkeley and has studied extensively with both Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. She has deepened her practice in community with NY Insight Meditation Center, Insight LA, and Pushing Beauty’s Breathwork programs. As a mindfulness guide, Alyssa is particularly drawn to embodied practices, metta (lovingkindness), and how the teachings can deepen our ability to adapt and transform.

Alyssa also has extensive experience in project management for non-profit arts and educational organizations, with a focus on Audience Outreach & Program Development. Her interest in leadership brought Alyssa to Columbia University’s Teachers College, where she earned her M.A. in Adult Learning and Leadership. She is inspired to build classes that are inclusive, collaborative, and spark imagination.

Alyssa also holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature and another B.A. in Theatre, both from Smith College. During her time at Smith, she studied abroad at Royal Holloway-University of London, and interned with New York Stage and Film as a Production and Acting Apprentice. In NYC, Alyssa trained at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, earning a conservatory certificate in Music Theatre. Subsequently, she has worked as an actor/singer on both stage and screen, and is a member of Actors Equity Association and SAG-AFTRA. As an educator, Alyssa blends the toolbox of the performing artist with adult learning approaches to help learners reach their goals in their professional growth.
